The Educators Roundtable will include Héctor Casanova, Andrew Selby, Robyn Phillips-Pendleton, Karen Jiyun Sung and Shreyas R. Krishnan, whose papers span a wide range of topics. Illustrator/educator Whitney Sherman will guide the discussion, seeking useful intersections between the creative process and ethical considerations, and how to cultivate the next generation of pragmatic professionals and intuitive artists.
Whitney Sherman
Whitney Sherman is a multifaceted maker. As an award-winning illustrator, Sherman uses drawing, collage, linocut, design and digital media. She conducts national and international workshops from her book Playing with Sketches. At MICA, she oversees the thesis projects and teaches entrepreneurship, and is also Co-Director of Dolphin Press & Print at MICA publishing projects alongside Gizem Vural, Michael Bartalos, Henrik Drescher/Wu Wing Yee and Jon Rappleye. She is a contributing writer and associate editor of the History of Illustration textbook. She has exhibited in Japan, England, China, Germany and the U.S.’s Gallery Nucleus, Giant Robot, the Norman Rockwell Museum and the Library of Congress. Her limited-edition work made for Pbody Dsign represents her view of illustrators’ expanding roles.
